Green Valley Lake (7000′ elevation), the “hidden gem” of the San Bernardino Mountains, is a secluded mountain retreat on the way to Big Bear. It is the perfect home base for exploring all that the mountain has to offer while avoiding all the traffic and hustle and bustle of big resort towns like Big Bear or Lake Arrowhead.
The Village consists of just a few buildings next to the lake, including The General Store, Log Cabin Cafe, Lake Inn Restaurant, Eagle’s Nest Tavern, gift shop, and a tackle shop.
Across the street sits a picture perfect lake lined with fishermen, colorful canoes, a swimming beach (lifeguards included), a kids swimming area and newly remodeled playground. Everything is within walking distance.
If you’re coming in winter, drive about 10 minutes to Snow Drift Snow Tubing Park and Snow Valley Mountain Resort, or about 30-40 minutes to Snow Summit or Bear Mountain. There are many sledding opportunities around town.
The lake itself is known for swimming, fishing, paddleboating and sailboating, and for the beautiful 15-minute walking path around it. The winding, oscillating streets near the lake also make for some delightful strolls. Hiking trails abound, both nearby and in Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear.
No matter the time of year, there is something to be enjoyed in Green Valley Lake. It truly is a year round destination.
